ESCAPE FROM BUSY LIFE TO THE PA WILDS
Let’s face it, life in the big city can get hectic as a golfer – getting the tee time you want, organizing your buddies and fighting local traffic even on weekends. There are times when escaping the hectic pace is just as important as playing great golf with your closest friends. The PA Wilds offers just that, with expansive terrains, a national forest, dark evening skies, roaming elk, gorges, viaducts, plenty of fresh air plus peace and quiet. That doesn’t mean that your group can’t let their hair down. While golf is challenging and historic, it’s also affordable and laid back. As an example of the area’s light-hearted nature is their own Punxsutawney Phil. A little known secret is that he’s here to help golfers in planning a spring trip to the PA Wilds, not just for inquisitive farmers! There are collectively over a dozen course and hotel options within this destination, including a stay & play option at Scottish Heights. Other lodging options include franchise hotels right off of major highways or historic hotels along the Allegheny River like the Foxburg Inn. Kenterra Golf Course is a fun and affordable way to start your vacation with its convenient location off I-80. Also nearby is Scottish Heights Golf Club & Lodge, giving golfers a perfect golf “home” away from home with lots of fun and comfort. Pinecrest Country Club offers a course layout characterized by smooth rolling verdant fairways and fast greens. Clarion Oaks Golf Club features rolling hills and towering oaks. Foxburg Golf Course, the longest running golf course in the US, gives a historical perspective on the game’s beginnings in our country. St. Jude Golf Course is considered to be the “Oakmont Country Club of the North,” nicknamed that by those that play the annual member match between the two courses.
