A NEW Kind of Maryland Golf Trail

Desiring a ‘taste of Maryland,’ but looking for something a little closer? Then the Upper Chesapeake Golf Trail may be a fun new option to consider.

The destination offers two contrasting kinds …of experiences, depending upon where you decide to land your head at night. Golf courses in this golf trail can be combined no matter where you stay, so it really just depends upon your choice for 19th holes. Consider the area as an upside down horse shoe in understanding the two areas.

On the northeast part of this golf trail is the town of North East. Smaller in contrast to the second ‘home base,’ it offers a smaller, waterman’s village feel with tons of Maryland fun. Within less than a mile from the host hotel is the 10 block long town a numerous restaurants. One of which is Steak & Main Oyster Bar & Steakhouse, which was featured on the Man vs. Food show on the Travel Channel. Bring your game to the 19th hole for those with a competitive spirit.

Also in town are the infamous Woody’s Crab House for fresh Maryland Crabs soaked in Old Bay seasonings.  This place really knows how to deliver crabs, by Marylanders’ standards. Size is not a problem.  Drive another 1/2 mile down the street to the Nauti Goose, a waterfront marina restaurant and bar with tons of nightlife and ambiance in true Maryland style. Still looking for more, then The Wellwood Club, just on the other side of the river) offers free van shuttle services from the host hotel, and both inside dining and bar along with a sanded beach crab feast setting along the water.

The other option, for your ‘home base,’ is on the southwestern part of this upside down horseshoe in the towns of Aberdeen and Edgewood Maryland. Home of the Aberdeen Proving Ground and one of the fastest growing suburbs of Baltimore, it offers the conveniences you would expect in a suburban area with many franchise 19th hole options. But the fun twist is adding another sport to the mix with either the Ironbirds, Cal Ripkin’s minor league baseball team in Aberdeen or head into downtown Baltimore for an “O’s game, (Baltimore Orioles).

No matter your choice in accommodation choices, the golf is top notch, really. We have great mid level options and high end options including Maryland’s top rated public golf course – Bulle Rock.
